Nursing Courses Available After 12th

The medical field is very advanced and provides lots of career scope, opportunities to young candidates. One of them is nursing which is a noblest profession and important part of any healthcare industry. Nurses are taking care of their patients 24/7 even in the absence of doctors. They handle several different responsibilities. This is the biggest reason that the demand for the nurses is high in the job market that opens the door of career for young candidates.  There are a large number of nursing jobs available in both government and the private sector.



List of courses available in this:

·         B.Sc. Nursing (Basic): This is a 3-year degree program which one can pursue after completion of 10+2 from science stream. Candidates need to acquire 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 for taking admission in B.SC.

·         GNM: Candidate from science and arts stream can do GNM course from a reputed board or university. Minimum aggregate marks to take admission in GNM are 50% and after ANM one can easily pursue this course. This is 3 year and 6-month degree program.


·         ANM: Candidates can pursue ANM course after completion of 10+2 from science or arts stream. This course is available for both male and female candidates. The duration of this course is 18 month.

·         M.Sc: To get a post-graduate degree one must need to complete B.Sc nursing certificate from a recognized board or university. Candidate should have 1-year working experience after completing the B.Sc. program and should also be a registered nurse with the State Nurse Registration Council.


·         M.Phil: Must have passed M.Sc. in Nursing (with any specialty) from an institute recognized by the INC with minimum 60% aggregate marks.

·         Diploma: Must have completed B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/GNM from an institute recognized by the INC with minimum 55% aggregate marks.


These are some courses which one can pursue starting their career in the nursing profession. They can work in private hospitals, government hospitals, Health centers, community health centers, NGO’s, Rehabilitation Clinics, training institutes or colleges etc.


Job prospects and salary scope are quite high in this profession. Salary may vary according to the work experience and post. One can easily earn 25, 000 initially and after gaining some experience one can earn a much higher salary package.
